Sample Loading on double-tilt TEM holder

  1. Loosen the silver nuts and shift the Cu levers.
Do not touch the Be ring, it is toxic!

2. Put the samples on the Cu Ring (fixed), it could be Cu mesh or Silicon Nitride TEM grid.
Case 1: Cu mesh >> Put in BOTH Beryllium Ring and Beryllium Washer
Case 2: Silicon nitride TEM grids (our case below) >> Put in ONLY Beryllium Washer
*This is because the silicon nitride TEM grid has its own thickness.
**You need to ensure the sample side is facing the Electron beam directly.
You need to TURN OVER the silicon nitride TEM grid (reference: as taken out from the gel box).

Structure of a double-tilt holder
The structure of a single-tilt TEM holder is quite intuitive. Hence, below shows the schematic diagram of a double-tilt TEM holder.
